How to Step Vault #6 – Foot Trajectory

To minimise clipping the foot on the front edge of the wall, we over-compensate the trajectory and make sure we come DOWN onto the foot position.

When students start they tend to drive the foot up towards the foot placement, barely missing the front edge by millimeters. With lower motor-control ability, the risk of clipping the foot is higher, so to mitigate this, the foot needs to raise over and above the wall, then return down to it.

This also allows us more time to control the positioning of the foot and ensure we're secure before vaulting.
