How to Land #01 – Intro
The Landings Tip Series
So I've decided to hit the 20s with new Parkour Tutorials.
Every Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 11am.
- First up, Landing Properly.
Using the balls of your feet. ( Or the largest "metatarsaophalangeal joint" ). This will enable you to engage your muscles and muscular system rather than the skeletal system and joints.
Use your toes to grip the wall, curb or rail. This will help you to contract tighter.
As you contract your muscles, try to keep your heels up, above the toes. Dropping the heel (which will put your foot into a 'dorsiflexion' position) can injure your ligaments in the ankle and cause issues with:
- Achilles Heel.
- Anterior Talofibular ligament (top of the foot, on top of the ankle)
- Calcaneofibular ligament (outside of the foot, behind the ankle)
