How to Land #17 – Weird
Weird
Embrace the weird, tricky, uneven, angled, uncomfortable and hard landings. This will make you better at landings overall. Find new challenges with new types of landing positions every time. The key is to CHALLENGE yourself, not keep doing the think you can already do. If you want to progress, you need to keep finding situations you have to adapt to.
Don't forget that there are so many variables you can use to make landings more difficult.
- area (big / small ?)
- material (concrete / wood / metal ?)
- direction (angle from you; to it)
- angle (landing sloped or level)
- shape (flat / rounded / spiked / pointed )
- weather (wet / dry / slippery / icy )
- visibility (Can you see the landing?)
- distractions ( Other movement in eye sight)
- surroundings (What is around the landing? )
- height (Are you High / low off ground?)
- distance (Far / near?)
- trajectory (Are you Going up? down?)
- obstacles (Something partially in the way you have to avoid?)
- landing ( landing on 1 foot, 2 foot, 1 on top of other)
- structure ( Stable? Wobbly? Crumbling? )
- timing ( Restriction of time to do the jump? )
- lighting (Day / Night? )
- sound ( need for silence? )
- fear ( Scary jump? is it risky? dangerous? )
